How Placebos Can Influence Healing

There are many clinical trials where a person who has taken the placebo instead of the active treatment has reported an improvement in symptoms. Belief in a treatment may be enough to change the course of a person's physical illness.

  • What is Plazevo?
Plazevo is the original customizable open-label placebo. Each capsule is a message in a bottle to the control panel of your mind-body connection. What message would you put in your bottle? That's the message that will appear on your bottle of Plazevo as "Directions:" Traditionally, placebos were "useless" substances, like a sugar pill, in which the goal is not using the chemicals in the pill, but using belief and expectancy to produce results, thought only to work when the patient didn't know they were taking a sugar pill. A growing body of research - including that from Ted J. Kaptchuk, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School - continues to support the claim that OLP's (Open Label Placebos) can be effective for a growing number of self-reported conditions like depression, anxiety, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome and even ADHD. The uses of Plazevo are as limitless as your choices for intention. Get creative! What do you have to lose? See what Plazevo can do and then tell us your story! $39 per month. Free Shipping. • What is an Open Label Placebo (OLP)?
An Open Label Placebo (OLP) is a type of placebo where the person taking it has been informed they are taking a placebo (i.e. "a sugar pill"). Unlike traditional placebo treatments used in clinical trials where participants are unaware of whether they are receiving the active treatment or a placebo, when a person takes an OLP, they are fully informed that they are taking a placebo.
  • An OLP might work for me. How do I use Plazevo?
Important guidance from Harvard.edu ... "Placebos won't lower your cholesterol or shrink a tumor. Instead, placebos work on symptoms modulated by the brain, like the perception of pain. Placebos may make you feel better, but they will not cure you. They have been shown to be most effective for conditions like pain management, stress-related insomnia, and cancer treatment side effects like fatigue and nausea." If you buy a traditional headache medicine, for example, you'll find printed on the bottle, "Directions: Take two for headache pain." Plazevo is different. Plazevo is customized to your specific needs. It arrives with a label printed with YOUR directions. During checkout, you'll be prompted to enter in your unique intention for Plazevo. You cannot purchase Plazevo without completing this section of the ordering process. Your personal and unique intention - your Plazevo Effect - is KEY to the effectiveness you will experience will Plazevo. Here are some examples: "Take two capsules per day for increased energy." "Take one capsule in the morning and one capsule at night to alleviate chronic pain." "Take two capsules before bedtime for a peaceful night's sleep." The Plazevo Effect is what YOU want it to be. Think of it like a permission slip for your unconscious. If you had a direct line of communication with the mechanism in charge of your mind and body, what would you ask of it? The answer that comes to mind is your PPE, your Personal Plazevo Effect. Discover what your Plazevo Effect can do for you.
  • Placebos work, but how?
From Harvard.edu... "How placebos work is still not quite understood, but it involves a complex neurobiological reaction that includes everything from increases in feel-good neurotransmitters, like endorphins and dopamine, to greater activity in certain brain regions linked to moods, emotional reactions, and self-awareness. All of it can have therapeutic benefit. The placebo effect is a way for your brain to tell the body what it needs to feel better." Through his work at Harvard Medical School, professor Ted Jack Kaptchuk continues to reveal that the act of receiving a treatment (i.e. a sugar pill), combined with the belief that it might help, can trigger very real psychological and physiological responses.† These responses include reductions in stress and anxiety, improvements in mood, and even changes in brain chemistry, such as the release of endorphins and dopamine.† † These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. • What is D-Ribose
From Web MD:* Ribose can be found in both plants and animals, including: Mushrooms Beef and poultry Cheddar cheese and cream cheese Milk Eggs Caviar Anchovies, herring, and sardines Yogurt * Source: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins-and-supplements/ribose-uses-and-risks D-Ribose is a naturally occurring sugar that plays a crucial role in RNA synthesis, cellular energy and DNA repair. It is a type of carbohydrate, specifically a pentose sugar, which means it has five carbon atoms. D-Ribose is a key component of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule that cells use for energy. ATP is essential for many biological processes, including muscle contraction, protein synthesis, and cellular respiration. Ribose is also used by the body for DNA repair and as a building block for RNA. ATP, RNA and DNA are fundamental to all known human biological processes.
